Tolerance & Precision Classes
Precision class, internal clearance and shaft or housing fits describe different aspects of a bearing arrangement. Keep these requirements separate in an enquiry rather than using one as a substitute for another.
A clear specification
- Requested bearing reference and manufacturer, where specified.
- Precision or tolerance class stated in the equipment documentation.
- Shaft and housing drawing, including seat tolerances.
- Inspection or acceptance requirements for the purchase.
Avoid automatic class conversion
Manufacturer-specific precision designations should be checked against the applicable product specification. A label that looks similar across catalogues may require a more detailed comparison.
For OEM enquiries
Attach the controlled drawing revision and identify the characteristics to be inspected. Specify whether the requirement concerns a bearing component, a matched set or the complete assembly.
Before ordering
Confirm the full configuration and requested documentation with the quotation. General selection guidance does not replace the drawing or acceptance criteria for your machine.
Discuss your bearing requirement
Send the complete designation, quantity, equipment details and operating conditions. We will review the reference and confirm the sourcing option before quotation.
